1994
The Beginning
Dave Bennett is selling Primestar Satellite and his work ethic is noticed by leadership. Primestar hires him to cover a section of Kansas City.
1995
Blue Sky Satellite Services is formed
Greg Bennett joins his dad to help install Primestar satellite dishes. A year later, Blue Sky Satellite Services is formed.
1999
Blue Sky partners with DISH
DirecTV purchases Primestar, and during this transition Dave meets with DISH and is awarded the entire state of Kansas for DISH installs. Within days, Blue Sky grows from 3 technicians to over 30 and now installs DISH Satellite TV.
2004
DISH offers local channels
DISH begins offering local channels in Blue Sky’s territory and our business explodes!
March 2012
Blue Sky begins to offer Smart Home Products and Services while in the customer’s home, and our business begins to evolve.

Blue Sky offers high-speed internet
Blue Sky becomes a Hughes Internet Authorized Dealer and now offers high-speed internet to our customers throughout the Midwest.

Blue Sky expands to Iowa and Nebraska
Blue Sky’s recent successes as DISH’s #1 In-Home Service Provider opens up new opportunities for growth. In July 2017, Blue Sky acquires the DISH offices in Lincoln, NE & Sioux City, IA. This acquisition expands Blue Sky’s territory to now also cover most of Nebraska and Iowa.

We are growing again! In addition to covering Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska, Blue Sky expands our territory and now covers most of Wisconsin. With the Wisconsin acquisition, Blue Sky now has over 300 employees, 17 locations across the Midwest, and services over 150,000 customers each year.

We have been a leader in the industry for over 25 years and we are always looking for high energy Smart Home Service & Installation Technicians to join our winning team as we lead the Smart Home revolution.
Our Technicians don’t just install TV. We’re trained to offer personalized technology to customers, while teaching them how to use and get the most out of the products they’ve purchased. And we don’t stop there – satellite broadband, security, and connected home technology are additional skills we train.
Blue Sky Technicians have the following:
- High energy, resourcefulness, and ability to multi-task
- Intelligence to see opportunities to sell to every customer
- Need to achieve – perform On Site Sales and offer Smart Home Services & Products to customers to enhance their overall viewing experience and promote smarter homes and simpler living
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and evenings
- Strong customer service skills; friendly, approachable and motivated with a strong work ethic and high degree of integrity
- Ability to Install/upgrade cutting edge technology – relocate power, place mounts, satellite dishes, televisions, routers, cameras, receivers, whole home connectivity technology, and many more products/services
- Sales, electrical, construction, maintenance/repair, cable, military, and/or customer service experience are a plus
Requirements:
- Must have valid driver’s license and pass periodic MVR check
- Must pass criminal background check and drug test
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle and feel, to operate hand tools and small power tools; to reach and lift with hands and arms; to talk and hear; to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; to climb ladder, to balance and reach from ladder; to walk and work upon rooftops; to crawl into and work in attics, crawlspaces or confined spaces
- Must regularly lift and/or move equipment that weighs 20 – 40 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 200 pounds with assistance. Must regularly lift, carry and maneuver ladders that weigh 60 to 90 lbs

Blue Sky Smart Solutions specializes in smart home and solar solutions for our customers as we bring technology and people together. We are expanding our solar division as we’re experiencing explosive growth with residential solar, focused on high-end PV products and energy storage solutions. We are looking for Solar Technicians who have a passionate interest in solar energy and a drive to lead and grow our solar division. The ideal candidate will bring experience, professionalism, reliability, and will be detail oriented. Great opportunity to start a career with a company that is actively growing and has career advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Layout and assembly of solar panels and racking hardware
- Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment
- Properly repair and seal roof penetration
- Perform maintenance on the solar system as needed
- Prepare inventory for installs and document completion of installation
- Work well within a team environment
- Project clean up
- Attend training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety
Qualifications:
- Solar or Construction experience is required
- Must be able to routinely lift 50lbs
- Ability to work in extreme environments (example: heat, cold, crawl spaces, etc)
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
- Basic computer skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal check, MVR and drug screen
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Able to work with power tools
- Must follow all safety policies and standards for working
